My life as A Bee

Hmmm–I always wonder what my life would be like as a bee. Even as I concern myself with my Acne Supplements regime and look out my window I see them all about the area where I live and they seem so unconcerned about us as humans.

My life as a bee is quite busy, as I am the Worker bee. Unlike the Queen Bee or the Drone, I carry the most responsibilities within the hive. The hive can actually not exist without my every –day hard work and my organizational skills. When I reach the stage of an adult, my responsibilities multiply, thus I will get busier with every single day passing. My life expectancy is very short, as hard work wears me out and I live around 30 to 40 days.

My role as a worker bee is very important and that’s why I have to be working almost constantly–we all have a job to do. This is my destiny, and this is the destiny of other thousands of worker bees. During the first days of my life, I am guided and helped by the other bees until I learn well my responsibilities as a worker. When I am strong enough, I will start my journey into life and work. The first two weeks of my life, I am busy with all the important activities around the hive. I have to feed the larvae, clean up the place, handle the wax, make honey, safeguarding our hive, and many other such tasks.

After working within the hive for approximately two weeks, I will have to fly away and start bringing into the hive the precious ingredients needed for making honey. I start out early morning in search for nectar and sweet pollen that I pick from flowers. I fly even four kilometers a day, in search for these ingredients. Additionally, I also travel in search for water without which I cannot live, just as people cannot exist without it. As I am small and I cannot carry a heavy load, I need to make ten or eleven different trips a day for bringing into the hive the ingredients. One such trip might take an hour in length, or even more. If you think about it, I work twelve hours a day, sometimes even more, without resting. I can make these trips for approximately another three weeks, and unfortunately, when this time is up, I will make my last journey and pass away. My life as a bee is very short but very important, productive and filled with beauties of flowery gardens.
